Manchester United police have arrested Mason Greenwood, who plays for Manchester United, on charges of assaulting and raping his girlfriend Harriet Robson.
In an official statement, the police said: “The Manchester Company became aware early today of the existence of photographs posted by a woman reporting that she had been physically assaulted, and as a result the perpetrator of these assaults has been arrested, for the offenses of rape and assault.”
The statement confirmed that the 20-year-old player is currently under police custody and is under investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
And Mason Greenwood’s ex-girlfriend, this Sunday morning, posted videos and photos on the social networking site Instagram showing blood on her face and other parts of her body, in addition to her being physically assaulted, as she claimed that the Manchester United player was the one who caused these injuries.
The incident caused great anger in the English street in sympathy for Harriet Robson, which prompted Manchester United to issue an official statement confirming that Greenwood “will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”
“We are aware of the images and allegations circulating on social media,” the statement said.
“We will have no further comment on the matter until the facts are established. Manchester United will not condone violence in any form,” the statement added.
Greenwood is considered a graduate of the Manchester United Academy and one of the most prominent English talents at the present time, as he participated this season in 24 games, during which he scored 6 goals and assisted two others.
