British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that one in 50 of the population of England – about a million people – is infected with the Corona virus, explaining at the same time that 1.3 million people have so far been vaccinated.
According to the British newspaper “Mail Online”, Johnson confirmed – this evening, Tuesday / – that the spread of the new strain of the disease made it impossible to avoid the closure.
The British prime minister insisted that the precautionary measures imposed could bring the situation under control while the vaccines are rolled out – dismissing the concern that he is “over-promising” by indicating that the most vulnerable will get vaccinated by mid-February.
Johnson pledged to give the country information about the vaccination process first-hand, pointing out that the total of 1.3 million people vaccinated so far include 1.1 million people in England, and 650,000 people over the age of 80, about 23 percent of all that age group in England, which means that Nearly one in four of the most vulnerable groups within two to three weeks will have a significant degree of immunity, according to the British prime minister.
He believed that the Joint Commission on Vaccination and Immunization was right to put in place a program to save most lives faster.
The British Prime Minister categorically refused to make a statement about returning to school before the summer vacation, stressing that this matter would be given the highest priority.
It is worth noting that the United Kingdom recorded a record 60,916 infected cases – an increase of about 15 per cent compared to last Tuesday, while the death toll reached 830 people, double the number last week.
