British writer John Le Carré, author of Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy and the Night Manager, died at the age of 89, his literary agent said late Sunday night.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of David Cornwell, known worldwide as John Le Carré, after a short illness (unrelated to COVID-19) in Cornwall on Saturday evening, December 12, 2020,” the author’s literary agent said in a statement. “He will never be seen again,” said Johnny Geller, CEO of Curtis Brown. “Everyone who loves books will feel their loss, and everyone who cares about the human condition.”
His family said in a brief statement that he had died of pneumonia.
