(CNN) — Britney Spears’ memoir, titled “The Woman In Me” (The woman in me, in Spanish), will be released on October 24, according to the publisher that will publish it.
The play has been billed as a “brave and amazingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope.”
Referring to the landmark 2021 court hearing in which Spears asked a Los Angeles superior court judge to end her 13-year conservatorship, Jennifer Bergstrom, a senior vice president at Gallery Books, said in a statement. this Tuesday: “Britney’s compelling testimony in the open court shook the world, changed laws and showed her inspiring strength and courage.”
“We couldn’t be more proud to help her finally share her story,” Bergstrom added.
Spears testified during June 2021 that she felt her conservatorship was “abusive” and pleaded for it to end, saying, “I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years and it’s enough.”
The conservatorship finally ended months later.
“The impact of sharing her voice, her truth, was undeniable and changed the course of her life and the lives of many others,” read a press release about the book. And she adds that Spears’ memoir “illuminates the enduring power of music and love: and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.”
For her part, Spears shared a post on Instagram Tuesday also announcing the release date of her book, with caption appearing in a video: “Coming soon… My story, on my own terms, finally.”
