Bronny James ‘is an NBA player’ WITHOUT his famous father’s last name as LeBron’s son continues to weigh up his basketball future after finishing his HS career
Bronny James is trending upward as he nears a career in professional basketball, with one NBA scout suggesting he won’t be drafted due to his name and rather, his NBA caliber skill set.
James Jr. scored 15 points in the McDonald’s All-American and put on an eye-catching display in the dunk contest the night prior.
‘Bronny won’t get drafted because he’s LeBron’s kid,’ an NBA scout told On3. ‘He’ll get drafted because he’s an NBA player. He works hard, goes about his business, and is tough.’
Another scout had a slightly different perspective while speaking to the outlet; ‘Bronny is a good, two-three year college player.’
James Jr. has yet to commit to a plan, publicly at least, as to his team for next season after finishing his high school career at Sierra Canyon.

Ranked 33rd nationally in the class of 2023, per 24/7 sports, James could take the traditional route and attend college, or follow in the footsteps of LaMelo Ball and play abroad.
His father, LaVar, encouraged James II to make the move down under to facilitate his basketball growth.
‘It’s better [in Australia]. Why? Because you playing against grown men and you getting paid,’ LaVar told The Sporting News.
‘If you want to play basketball and you really that dude, why am I sitting in class trying to pass a chemistry test? I don’t want to play no chemistry. I don’t want to practice no Spanish.’
James Jr. drew praise for his performance in the McDonald’s All-American game and drew both large amounts of praise, as well as comparisons to his father LeBron James.
According to The Oregonian, James has reduced his college options to a ‘top five or six,’ which includes the Ohio State Buckeyes, plus Oregon and USC.
LeBron hyped up his son last month after Sierra Canyon advanced to the finals of the 2023 California Interscholastic Federation State Championships, stating he was already better than some NBA players.
James, a Laker since 2018, has expressed interest in playing with Bronny, who could be drafted by an NBA team as early as 2024.

Lavar Ball has stated he believes Bronny James would be better off playing basketball next season overseas in Australia as opposed to playing basketball in college
‘My last year will be played with my son,’ James told The Athletic in February. ‘Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be.
‘I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.’
Bronny will also be playing in the Nike Summit for USA Basketball on April 8th after being included on the 13 man roster announced by USA basketball.
The competition will take place in Portland as some of the top high school basketball players in America will face off against U19 teams from around the world.
