More than 30 police officers in explosive vests have swarmed a Melbourne home as paramedics remain on standby.
Specialist police and plain clothes officers stormed the Cooper Street home in Brunswick about 4pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile just minutes down the road, another man was arrested after assaulting an officer who was performing a welfare check at his address.
‘A man inside the address allegedly punched a police officer in the face before retreating into the home,’ a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

‘Critical Incident Response Team members negotiated with the man and he was arrested without further incident.
‘The officer sustained minor facial injuries.’
Under Victorian law, anybody found guilty of assaulting an emergency services worker must spend at least six months in jail.
It is not yet clear if the two incidents are linked.
