Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo recently underwent a ‘routine surgery,’ which was described as a cleanup procedure on his left knee.
The knee issue was said to have been causing Antetokounmpo lingering discomfort since the start of the offseason.
‘He had a routine surgery on his left knee, and it went great,’ Griffin said. ‘Everything went as planned, and we expect him back and ready to go in training camp.’
Antetokounmpo finished third in MVP balloting this past season and averaged a career-high 31.1 points along with 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 63 games.
But it means his status for the FIBA World Cup is currently uncertain, according to The Athletic.

Antetokounmpo led the Bucks post the NBA´s best regular-season record before their stunning first-round playoff loss to the No. 8 seed Miami Heat.
He also dealt with lingering knee issues throughout the season that caused him to miss multiple games due to what the team described as left knee soreness.
The 28-year-old has often taken pride in representing his country in international competitions and played for Greece playing for the national team last summer at EuroBasket.
He also suited up for Greece at the 2019 World Cup as well.
