There was a party in Milwaukee last night. The Bucks beat Brooklyn, true, but that was just a small detail in a celebration that came as a result of the enormous work done last year, which led them to be crowned NBA champions 50 years later. They had known for months. They are currently the best, but it was not until this October 19 that they felt such an achievement in their own hands, with the champion ring, and on the horizon, with the banner hanging in the Fiserv Forum.
The members of the organization (players, technicians and managers) were receiving their respective rings until they met completely on the field. It was then that the banner of champions of the 2020-21 season was raised, which was followed by a video about the best moments of the team until they were champions against Phoenix Suns. Giannis Antetokounmpo couldn’t hide his excitement.
“When those videos were playing… you can’t help but get excited. You look back, you see the path traveled, where we started and where we are. This is forever. You can leave today’s game away and that banner will always be there. You can always go back and see a game in 2055, I hope we are alive, and the banner will be there, “he says.
Bucks fans have waited 50 years to relive this moment. His previous triumph dates from 1971, so it is not surprising the enormous expectation caused on a night like this. The pavilion was packed and there were many more fans outside. The team set up a stage so that those without a ticket could gather and celebrate such a milestone. Milwaukee, we did it. We finally did it, ”Khris Middleton told the crowd.
Luxury ring
Milwaukee Champion Rings include the slogans ‘Fear The Deer’ and ‘Bucks In 6’. The latter has become a rallying cry for the team since Brandon Jennings used it to predict how the series against Miami would end in the 2013 playoffs. He was wrong, but the chant stuck with the fans. Both he and other illustrious Bucks, Michael Redd case were present at the ceremony.
Regarding how the ring is composed, the design corresponds to the Jason jewelry of Beverly Hill, which has used 360 diamonds on the top to represent the total victories of the Bucks under the current ownership. Additionally, there are 16 emerald-shaped diamonds on each side, symbolizing its 16 playoff victories last season and the 16 division titles the franchise has achieved throughout its history. By the way, Herb Kohl, who owned the Bucks between 1985 and 2014, also received a ring and a standing ovation from fans.
“Seeing what we accomplished last year, seeing the guys get their rings, being able to share that moment with your teammates, with the organization… I think it was a really unique and incredible experience. The ring itself is a reminder of that. It is something that no one can take away from us. No one can take away those experiences we have had together, and the ring symbolizes it, “says Pat Connaughton.
