Businesses in Puebla had a break with the increase in sales; prevented job losses

Puebla, Pue. Businesses in the Historic Center said that the 30% increase in sales in establishments during the second semester has given a “breathing space” to avoid the loss of between 20 and 30% of jobs.

The president of the Merchants Council of the Historic Center, Jose Juan Ayala Vazquezsaid that the balance is positive and that it should be maintained for the rest of the year, thinking that 2023 should be very different economically compared to the previous two years.

However, he acknowledged that there are no conditions to generate new jobs at this time, since the priority is to keep as many as possible in stores.

He stressed that the businesses have fully complied with the sanitary provisions so that a resurgence of infections by Covid-19 is not generated, which is reflected in better sales by increasing activities.

Ayala Vázquez with 1,300 represented who generate 2,500 jobs, considered that El Buen Fin, to be held from November 18 to 21, will help close this year with better sales, but without compensating for the income that was lost between 2020 and great part of last year.

He trusted that the number of Covid-19 infections will continue to drop, as long as social behavior is maintained despite the fact that sanitary measures have been made more flexible.

He indicated that by not having informal commerce in the Historic Center, it should be reflected in higher sales for El Buen Fin, and that good streak be extended until the Christmas season.

“If we reach the projected sales goals, it will help us overcome the January slope that lasts until March, but we cannot say that next year will be better, even if it is our desire, since we depend on many factors,” he deepened.

He asserted that the sector also requires the opening of more credits to be able to strengthen itself in merchandise, since the banks have closed to give them loans, considering them high risk.
