Except for the aside of the Summer League in Las Vegas, we have not yet seen Cade Cunningham in the Pistons uniform. An ankle injury has prevented one of the most exciting player projects of the last five years – and that competes with Luka Doncic or Zion Williamson – from making his preseason debut for a single minute. Last week, his coach Dwayne Casey assured that they were not going to be in a hurry with him, which questioned his availability for the start of the course. However, the latest news suggests that Cunningham could make his debut against the Chicago Bulls to open the Detroit campaign.
Casey himself was in charge of updating the situation. It’s on track to be ready by Wednesday. He is working and we are at the same point as his environment » declares the technician in his last press conference. However, he once again emphasized the little rush that the franchise will have with the boy. “What we are not going to do is make him play if he is not at 100% and there is a risk of relapse.” To clear up any doubts, we will have to wait for the same Wednesday, the date that the coach has designated for the final announcement.
At the very least, Cunningham is already able to train with the team and apply the learning that he has had to absorb only through video sessions or watching from the band. The next step will be to take a temperature on the parquet of an NBA court.
