The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced an increase in financial rewards for the 2023 Cup of Nations by 40%, days before the start of the competition in Ivory Coast on the 13th of this month.
CAF stated – on its website – that the Executive Office decided to increase the tournament prizes, starting with the Ivory Coast edition, where the winner of the title will receive $7 million.

He added, “The runner-up will receive $4 million, while each team that qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament will receive $2.5 million, and $1.3 million for each team that qualified for the quarter-finals.”
CAF President Patrice Motsepe said, โThe Confederation of African Football has made great progress over the past two years in increasing the prize money for the Cup of Nations and all its other major competitions.โ
He added, “We have increased the prize money for the cup winner. I am confident that part of the prize money will contribute to the development of football and will also benefit all stakeholders in the game, as well as helping our member associations in its management.”

Ivory Coast will host Cรดte d'Ivoire in its 34th edition during the period from the 13th of this month until the 11th of next February.
24 teams are participating in the tournament, led by Egypt, which holds the record with 7 titles.
The continental competition will open with a match between the host team and the two-time defending champion against Guinea-Bissau, which has not yet achieved any victory in 3 previous participations, on the 13th of this month at the โAlassane Ouattaraโ stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 spectators in Abidjan.
