Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to turn Gaza, which he described as an “evil city,” into rubble, calling on its residents to leave immediately.
This came in a televised speech by Netanyahu, broadcast by Netanyahu’s office through his account on the “X” platform, following an emergency government meeting, in the wake of a massive infiltration operation carried out by Hamas this morning deep into Israel, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of Israelis, and Israel responded to it with continuous bombing operations in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu said: “Hamas has started a cruel and evil war. “We will win this war, but the price is very high.”
זהו יום קשה ביותר לכולנו. pic.twitter.com/TgDzuZpEme
He added: “What happened today has never happened before in Israel, and I will make sure it does not happen again. The entire government stands behind this decision.”
Netanyahu continued: “The Israeli army will immediately use all its power to disrupt Hamas’ capabilities. We will beat them to death, and we will take revenge on them for the black day they inflicted on the State of Israel and its citizens.”
He went on to say: “This war will take time, and it will be difficult… We will turn the city of evil into rubble. I say to the people of Gaza: Get out of there now.”
The sudden infiltration operation carried out by dozens of Hamas fighters resulted in the killing of 250 Israelis, the wounding of more than 1,500, and the kidnapping of an unknown number of Israelis and taking them to the Gaza Strip.
Israel responded by launching a massive military operation, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a “war,” resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of Palestinians.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that 232 were killed and 1,697 others were injured since the start of the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip this morning until now.
The Ministry stated, in a statement, that “the total number of martyrs admitted to hospitals in the Gaza Strip so far is distributed among Gaza, Khan Yunis, and Rafah, while the injuries were distributed in all governorates.”
