Camimex affirms that its companies comply with tax obligations

The Mining Chamber of Mexico (Camimex) highlighted that its affiliated companies punctually comply with their Fiscal obligationsincluding special taxes that only they pay, to be allocated by the federal government to the benefit of mining communities.

“The mining industry contributes more resources to the public treasury than those generated by other productive sectors. This is based on official data from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit itself, ”he said in a press release issued this Thursday.

The Camimex affirmed that this position is due to the statements made this Wednesday Raquel BuenrostroSecretary of Economy, about the mining industry.

“Large taxpayers pay 2.4% of their total income; we, who are salaried, pay between 30 and 35%, and the mining companies pay 0.002% of their total income,” said Buenrostro.

Camimex also replied that the Mexican mining industry It conducts itself strictly in accordance with the legal framework and abides by all current regulations, while its affiliated mining companies emphatically reject all forms of corruption.

“The mines are not white popcorn; they have problems all over the world. After hydrocarbons, the strongest smuggling is mining, more than textiles, shoes and clothing,” Buenrostro also said the day before. “A very strong purge is being carried out, I think it is one of the areas with the greatest corruption problem in the Economy.”

On another edge, Camimex reported the following data: its companies generate more than 400,000 direct jobs and almost 2.6 million indirect jobs, and the average salary in the mining sector, according to the Mexican Institute of Social Security, is 37% higher than the national average, in addition to contributing as the fifth source of income for the country and with more than 8% of the Industrial GDP.

Buenrostro explained that in a recent talk with Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Businesses and Economic Development, she agreed that “the miner’s work must be redignified.” She right away she said, “I think we have an agenda to talk about.”

Camimex gave this counterpoint: according to studies carried out by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the municipalities and mining towns have levels of economic and human development above the national average.
