An appearance by boxer Adrien Broner on the “It Is What It Is” podcast took an uncomfortable turn, leading to his removal from the show by host Cam’ron.
Broner was a guest on the podcast, hosted by rappers Cam’ron, Ma$e, and statistician Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson, to discuss a potential fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez. The interview began with Broner analyzing the matchup, comparing Crawford’s skills to Floyd Mayweather’s. However, his demeanor quickly raised concerns, as the typically quick-witted boxer spoke slowly and slurred his words, prompting social media speculation about his sobriety.
The conversation derailed when Broner abruptly shifted his focus to Wilson. While Cam’ron was speaking, Broner interrupted, saying, “I’m mesmerized by Stat. I did not know you looked that good in person.”
Despite the host’s attempts to steer the interview back to boxing, Broner persisted with personal comments toward Wilson, who appeared visibly uncomfortable. He compared her to a singer and at one point asked for her weight, which she declined to provide. When asked about potential opponents in the 140-pound division, Broner gave a nonsensical answer, naming only himself three times.
The situation escalated further when Broner whispered Wilson’s name and made a pun about another analyst named Arabia, stating, “If that’s Arabia, I’m Saudi.”
Finally, as Broner began another inappropriate comment, Cam’ron intervened. “I’m going to have to ask you to [leave],” he said. “I’m going to pay you for your time.” Cam’ron noted that he had privately asked Broner to be respectful before the show and mentioned that Wilson’s boyfriend was backstage. He then paid Broner in cash, and the boxer left the set.
