Canada recorded a huge increase in the number of people infected with the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) throughout the country, today, Sunday, amounting to 10,627 cases and 145 deaths.
This brought the total number of infections in the country to 600,907 people, in addition to 15860 deaths since the numbers began to be recorded last March.
The main province of Ontario saw a record daily infection numbers of 2,964 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 190,962.
On her part, County Health Minister Christine Elliott said, “Locally, there are 786 new cases in Toronto, 346 in Bell, 308 in York, 197 in Durham, and 187 in Windsor Essex county.”
An additional 25 deaths were announced, bringing the number of deaths in the province to 4,650 deaths.
The province of Ontario is witnessing a complete lockdown in southern Ontario until January 23, while in the north until January 11, to try to control the outbreak of the virus.
