Al raises
At the end of last December, the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, assured that the traffic of flights and passengers in the country’s airports will have a favorable behavior in 2022, according to information from the Official Airline Guide on the programming of both items for the whole of next year.
Added to this are new flights to cities such as Lisbon, Barcelona, Warsaw, Vienna, Sao Paolo and Holguín, which prior to the health crisis had no direct connection with the Mexican Caribbean, said Benjamin Jiménez, director of Strategic Planning of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo (CPTQ).
He explained that the rise in the availability of airplane seats is due to the fact that airlines are programming their largest aircraft to the Mexican Caribbean, that is, before the pandemic, the most common aircraft that landed in Cancun were Boeing 737s with maximum capacity. of 197 passengers; Dreamliner models with up to 300 seats are currently landing.
“Not only are we getting more planes, but also those planes are bigger,” he explained.
