Carbon Disclosure Project recognizes companies for their environmental actions

This year, the organization qualified nearly 15,000 companies in their disclosures on climate change, forests and water security. To be ranked with the maximum “A” score, CDP considers the crossing and analysis of different variables. Among the most outstanding is how companies report their progress, if they do so transparently and with clear objectives.

Climate change in Mexico

According to the data collected by the CDP organization, In Mexico, the only food company to obtain the listed “A” was Grupo Bimbothe most important bakery in the world, for its global actions to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The company of Mexican origin achieved “A”, which reflects the highest score and highest rating in the ranking “The A List 2022”, of which only 2% (283 companies) achieved that rating.

Grupo Bimbo began its journey to mitigate the effects of climate change more than 30 years ago. In 2012, it started its first renewable energy project in Mexico and the development of its first electric vehicle. In 2018, she joined the RE100 initiative, where he defined the goal of use 100% renewable electricity globally by 2025.

In this sense, and in line with its new level of ambition set out in its sustainability strategy, in 2021 also committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 by joining the Race to Zero campaign.

This distinction that Grupo Bimbo received was granted within the framework of the CDP Awards 2022 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
