There must be few more special sensations in the world of basketball than wearing the jersey of the most successful and glamorous team in the world. Do not be angry Celtics fans, who still share the first award of this phrase. The mantra that all great players play for the Lakers is rather false, but wearing the jersey lends a special aura to the career of any minimally memorable player. All of this must have happened to Carmelo Anthony when he finally donned his new training gear and stepped onto the UCLA Health Training Center facilities.
His first official training with the Los Angeles team is still recent in the forward’s memory, who defined it as a unique experience. “My first time at the facilities and on the track I kept trying to get used to the idea of wearing gold and purple” declared the player for Spectrum SportsNet right after your session ends. Melo’s case is especially striking for being someone who has felt the heat of Madison Square Garden as the top star of the New York Knicks. Still, he emphasizes that being a Lakers player “is different.”
Just a couple of seasons ago, Anthony found himself ousted by a league that closed the doors on him for nine long months. Time in which Carmelo had time to reformulate his ego and accept the new role that Portland finally offered him in November 2019. Now he faces what may be one of the last opportunities to lift the coveted title with a team that starts as Western Conference favorite and alongside his friend LeBron James. The future Hall of Famer once again rediscovered basketball with the eyes of a child, and arriving in Los Angeles seems to fulfill a childhood dream.
