Jimmy Carragher, the former Liverpool star, warned the English club’s management of making a fatal mistake if they failed to renew the contract of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, which expires in June 2023, after the renewal process faced difficulties during the recent period.
“Liverpool club owners should break their own policy regarding long contracts for players over the age of thirty,” Carragher said, noting that the 29-year-old Salah is in perfect physical condition and can follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi from While playing at the highest level well in his thirties.
And Carragher explained that it is necessary for Liverpool officials to do their best to convince Mohamed Salah to renew his contract, amid the prospects of his departure in a free deal at the end of next season.
Carragher added, “Signing with Mohamed Salah on a 4-year contract, for example, would represent a financial commitment of about 83 million pounds,” explaining, “The Liverpool administration does not want to set precedents that would cause long-term financial damage by agreeing to wages in excess of £400,000 a week”, but he reiterated “exceptional players ensure that they are treated as an exception, everything about Salah indicates that unless he suffers a serious injury he is in perfect physical condition and professional on and off the field.”
And the former Liverpool star continued his statements about Mohamed Salah, saying, “Only Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain can afford Mohamed Salah.”
And Carragher continued, “If anyone puts together the best squad in the history of Liverpool, then the name Mohamed Salah should be there. He is a great player. He has an amazing scoring record as he scored 133 goals in 211 games with the team.”
And the former Liverpool star continued, “Twenty-five years from now Liverpool fans will remember and think how lucky they were to watch Mohamed Salah’s goals. They will re-watch the videos and see his statistics with a sense of amazement.”
