CDMX will allocate 800 million pesos in 2023 to detonate more jobs

By 2023, Mexico City seeks to allocate an amount of 800 million pesos to detonate the labor sector of the city and thereby achieve the recovery of lost jobs.

According to the head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the aim is to replicate this year’s investment amount and the capital seeks to benefit projects such as self-employment, cooperatives, and even Active Unemployment Insurance.

“This year there was support of around 800 million pesos and next year is similar, for everything that has to do with support for self-employment, cooperatives, Active Unemployment Insurance, because we are also promoting community work,” he stressed. .

The capital’s president specified that as a local authority, they additionally strengthened the Fondeso, with a budget of 500 million pesos to give direct support to help self-employment, the formation of microenterprises or the formation of cooperatives.

“The support that is given in FONDESO is essentially around 10,000 pesos to form a microenterprise or generate, buy some machinery for self-employment (…) Around 70% of the support has remained, that is, it has helped the microenterprises to continue working or new microenterprises can be reactivated or installed”, he stressed.

In addition to this amount of investment, the Head of Government reported that for next year the cleaning staff of the different central government agencies will switch to a cooperative model in order to leave the subcontracting scheme.

The process will begin in the offices of the Government Headquarters, the Ministry of Finance (SAF) and the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion.

Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated that by dispensing with the services of these companies, the staff will be trained to form their cooperatives and have the opportunity to obtain higher income.

“Then next year we entered that process. It begins here at the Headquarters of Government, at the Finance Secretariat, the Labor Secretariat, and that is how we will go to all the City Government Secretariats, so that it is no longer the hiring of companies, but rather training current workers to form their cooperative and have an even higher income opportunity”, he deepened.

Regarding the reasons for carrying out this process, he pointed out that in addition to the job creation policy, it is also due to the fact that they have received different complaints from cleaning workers.

“We have received different complaints from the companies by the workers that they are not complying with labor rights and on the other hand, because we give the workers a different opportunity to have their own company through the cooperatives”, considered the local president.
