For more than 50 years, CES has been the world stage for innovation, the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States, is the world’s largest trade show for consumer technology.
At CES Las Vegas, consumer technology business owners come together to present the latest trends, innovations in e-services, and discuss relevant industry topics. Invite great businessmen and entrepreneurs who are starting their careers in the market to speak and create a better future all together.
This year it welcomed more than 40,000 in-person attendees from January 5-7, including 1,800 global media outlets, at 11 indoor and outdoor venues. A world-class show with 30% of the attendees from around the world, representing 119 countries gathered in the same expo, where more than 2,300 companies from around the world showed the latest in:
- Digital health
- Food technology
- Automotive technology
- Space technology
- NFT games
- Smart homes
- Metaversos
- Security of the information
Large companies such as Samsung, LG, or Sony were among the greats at CES, presenting their most recent advances in technology. However, the health situation forced other greats of the medium to cancel their participation such as Google, Amazon, Twitter, Microsoft or Meta.
A series of exhibitors were presented that advance in the two most convenient technological megatrends of the future: Intelligent Automation and the Evolution of the Metaverse.
The leading trends
Much of the focus at the fair revolved around sustainable mobility and automation, but robotics, computing, displays, smartphones and household products all had their place to shine.
Here are some of the many examples:
- METAVERSE: The Seoul pavilion, announced that it will become the first city to create a platform for the metaverse that will offer different public services through virtual and augmented reality. Which will be called “Emotional City of the future.”
- Sustainable Mobility: After years of reign by Tesla, Elon Musk’s company, in the field of electric cars, large companies and automakers decided that it was time to play their cards. So did Sony, General Motors, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz, among others. There were also news about autonomous tractors for improvements in agriculture, and electric and autonomous trucks to generate more sustainable logistics.
- Virtual concerts: With the pandemic, one of the things that sometimes we have trouble re-imagining is the return to live music shows. Some people prefer to go back alone virtually where all that is required are a headset, virtual reality glasses, and a joystick.
- Gadgets for smart homes: High resolution security cameras, alarms, smart doors, lights, vacuum cleaners, robots and even smart bathrooms and kitchens, were part of the new edition of CES. Everything that one imagines that can be automated or controlled in some way at home seems to be around for years to come.
- Space technology: Some companies like Sierra Nevada Corporation try to create inflatable space habitats for long-term stays, others seek to create machines useful in space missions, Bosch has developed a robot whose objective is to detect breakdowns from the noises that sound around it.
- The power of NFTs: The growing popularity of non-fungible tokens offers a new opportunity for creators, artists, musicians and influencers to sell work that would not otherwise find a market.
- Cybersecurity: Without a doubt, this concept was present as a cross-cutting and fundamental issue at CES. Each and every one of the exhibitors was prepared to receive questions related to the way in which new technologies guarantee the security of their users’ information.
Undoubtedly after a year of pause in physical events, what was experienced at CES 2022 was the clear will of the companies present to surprise, propose new ideas and reveal concepts that seem to come from a distant future, but are actually more within reach than we imagine.
Definitely, the Omicron variant of Covid-19 put one of the largest expos in technology to the test and despite representing a great challenge, the attendees enjoyed the monsters of world technology like every year.
