CESA presents progress of the Sierra de las Cruces Environmental Restoration Project

In order to generate an economy focused on environmental care, the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of Mexico City (CESA) announced the Sierra de las Cruces Environmental Restoration Project, Towards an Inclusive Social Model.

Derived from the Summit on the Ravines in Mexico City, the president of CESA, Leonor Gómez Otegui, explained that this plan seeks to promote the conservation of areas of environmental value located in the ravine system of the west of the capital, as well as their socioeconomic development sustainable.

To this end, the aim is to generate sustainable recreational activities, environmental education actions, ecological awareness and ecotourism.

The participation of the public, private and civil society sectors will be encouraged to reverse the degenerative uses of the ravines,” he stressed.

In addition, another of the objectives is to generate self-managed community projects to recover these spaces “so important for the ecological balance of Mexico City.”

“CESA is aware that all human activity must maintain a balance with the environment and nature, recognizes the impact and importance of ravines on human life due to their water, soil conservation, air quality, leisure and recreation contributions. , sustainable economic activities and community development”, Gómez Otegui deepened.

The plan was prepared by CESA through the UNAM’s University City Studies Program (PUEC).
