Atletico Madrid fell to a goalless draw against its Portuguese guest, Porto, in the match that brought the two teams together, this evening, Wednesday, at the “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium, in the first round of the second group stage of the Champions League group stage.
The two teams failed to translate the opportunities that came to the players throughout the match, and the referee canceled a goal for Porto, scored by Iranian Mehdi Taremi in the 80th minute after returning to the video technology.
The Frenchman, Antoine Griezmann, was booed by the fans of his Atletico Madrid team, after he participated as a substitute in the second half, after the player returned to the Madrid club on loan from Barcelona.
Porto player Mbemba was sent off in added time of the match.
The Liverpool team had a thrilling victory over its guest AC Milan 3-2 at the “Anfield” stadium in the same group.
In the next round, Atletico Madrid will host AC Milan, while Porto hosts Liverpool on September 28.
