With five wins and one draw from their opening six matches, Middlesbrough sits comfortably in first place on 16 points. The chase for promotion is heating up below them, with Stoke City and Leicester City level on 12 points in second and third place, respectively. A tight cluster of teams follows, with Bristol City, Preston North End, and West Bromwich Albion all tied on 11 points and occupying the remaining play-off positions.
The competition in the middle of the pack is equally fierce. Undefeated Coventry City holds seventh place with 10 points and boasts the league’s most potent attack, having scored 15 goals so far.
