Chandler Parsons has announced his retirement from professional basketball as a result of a car accident in 2020 that ended his career.
At 33 years of age, the Florida man has communicated the news through his personal Instagram account. “I don’t even know where to start… It’s been a crazy few years that have put a lot of things into perspective. I have had many ups and downs and I am grateful for each of them. All my life I wanted to be an NBA player. I didn’t even realize, or think what would come of all that. I just wanted to compete and play basketball at the highest level. I can proudly say, I did it!” begins his farewell to basketball.
The forward’s career as a player came to an abrupt halt after being involved in a car accident on January 15, 2020, when he was a member of the Atlanta Hawks. Parsons filed a lawsuit after the accident, which has been settled for a “substantial amount,” according to journalist Shams Charania.
Thus, Parsons puts an end to a career in the NBA in which he played 440 games with averages of 12.7 points and 37.3% success in triples. However, injuries kept him from extending the strong performances he displayed during his years in Houston and Dallas, and his production plummeted after signing a four-year, $94 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2016.
