Chelsea have opened talks with Napoli over a loan deal for defender Emerson Palmieri, according to reports in Italy.
Repubblica claims the 26-year-old could join Blues midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko at the San Paolo in the January transfer window.
This week Palmieri revealed his desire to play in Serie A again as he looks to boost his chances of making the Italy national squad for Euro 2020.

The left back joined the London club from Roma in 2018 but has never nailed down a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge and is yet to feature in the Premier League this season.
Frank Lampard has spent over £200million on reinforcements to the Blues squad this summer, including £50m on Ben Chilwell from Leicester City who has gone ahead of Emerson in the pecking order.
But despite the 26-year-old’s lack of playing time at club level, he was still called up to the national side by manager Roberto Mancini and started in Italy’s 4-0 win over Estonia on Wednesday.
Emerson is hopeful of a place in summer’s rearranged European Championships, but revealed Mancini told him he needs to be playing regularly for his club to keep his place, whether that be at Chelsea or elsewhere.

‘Here at the national team I play, I have fun and I’m fine’, Emerson told CalcioMercato.
‘The coach told me that the best solution for me is to play, at Chelsea or in another team, let’s wait for the next two months and see what will happen.
‘Unfortunately I’m not playing at Chelsea, but I’m calm, I think things can improve in London or in another place.
‘There was some interest in me but not concrete things. I’d like to return to play in Italy but I can’t say if it will happen in January or in five years.’
The Brazilian-born left-back has amassed 59 appearances for Chelsea since signing from Roma in 2018, while he has 10 international caps to his name.
