The Connecticut Sun (5-26) and Chicago Sky (8-23) will both look to end significant losing streaks when they face off Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Connecticut enters the contest on a five-game slide, its most recent loss being a 74-57 defeat against the Golden State Valkyries. Despite a strong performance from Aneesah Morrow, who posted 13 points and 14 rebounds, and a perfect 5-for-5 shooting night from Olivia Nelson-Ododa for 12 points, the team’s offense faltered as the other three starters combined to shoot just 4-for-26 from the field.
The Chicago Sky are also navigating a difficult stretch, having lost two consecutive games and 10 of their last 11. While the emergence of Angel Reese has been a bright spot, an injury-decimated roster has contributed to a challenging season. In their latest game, a 92-70 loss to the Indiana Fever, Rachel Banham was the only starter to score in double digits with 11 points, while reserve Maddy Westbeld added 10 points from the bench.
Chicago won the first meeting between the two teams, 78-66, in a Commissioner’s Cup game on June 15. Wednesday’s contest marks the first of three matchups scheduled between the Sun and Sky over the next three weeks.
