The Kansas City Chiefs have waived wide receiver Justyn Ross ahead of training camp, reportedly at the player’s request.
Ross’s departure concludes a tenure that began when he signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022. Despite his potential, he had a limited impact in Kansas City, securing just six receptions during his time with the team.
Once a top-tier collegiate prospect, Ross delivered a phenomenal freshman season at Clemson in 2018, capping it with 1,000 receiving yards and a 153-yard, one-touchdown performance in the National Championship victory over Alabama. However, his career trajectory was altered after he missed the 2020 season due to a serious spinal injury.
After returning in 2021 with diminished production, Ross went undrafted and has since struggled to regain the form that once made him appear destined for stardom. He will now look for an opportunity with a new organization.
