The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday that ministers from Arab and Islamic countries will visit China On Monday and Tuesday to discuss de-escalation Gaza stripaccording to what was reported by Chinese television.
The ministry explained that China will discuss with foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Palestine and…Organization of Islamic CooperationWays to support the need to calm the current conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, protect civilians, and reach a just settlement of the Palestinian issue.
Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated in a statement that her country will conduct in-depth communication and discussion with the joint delegation of those Arab and Islamic delegations to China, regarding pushing towards reducing the current escalation and protecting civilians.
Late last October, China called for an urgent international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue, reiterating its position that the two-state solution is the only viable way to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Israeli actions in Gaza “exceed the limits of self-defense,” and the Israeli government must stop “collective punishment” of the residents of the Strip.
The Chinese minister called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and move quickly, and that major countries outside the region must be objective and neutral, as he put it.
Official Chinese media also announced that Beijing had appointed Zhai Jun as a special government envoy to visit the Middle East to push for a ceasefire in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and the confrontations between Palestinian resistance factions and Israel and encourage peace talks.
