The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the imposition of sanctions on Britain, in response to London’s sanctions against Beijing over the situation of Muslim Uyghurs in Xinjiang, northwest China.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry indicated that it imposed sanctions on 4 entities and 9 people in Britain, accusing them of spreading “lies and deception” about the situation in Xinjiang.
It is forbidden for the Chinese authorities to deal with the British authorities who are covered by the sanctions, and for the British who are covered by them to enter Chinese territory or do business on it.
The Foreign Ministry added that “China is about to take further measures” against the United Kingdom.

It is noteworthy that Britain, the European Union, the United States and Canada have imposed sanctions on Chinese officials and entities, for “violating the rights of Uyghurs and other minorities in Xinjiang.”
Beijing said that the accusations were “baseless” and responded to the European Union by imposing sanctions on a number of parliamentarians, politicians and researchers in some European countries and the European Parliament.
