In remarks after talks with the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Palamajamba Kapudi during his official visit to Tanzania, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry today, Wang said that during the past two years, China has fully implemented the eight major initiatives with African countries that were proposed during the summit. Beijing, noting that cooperation activities in the fields of industrial development, infrastructure connectivity, trade facilitation, green development, capacity building, health care, people-to-people exchanges, peace and security, have been comprehensively implemented, and the overall rate of their implementation has exceeded 70%.
He pointed out that China-Africa cooperation on the “Belt and Road” is currently achieving smooth progress, as work continued on more than 1,100 projects, even during the outbreak of the (Covid-19) disease.
He added that the impact of the (Covid-19) disease will not prevent China and Africa from moving forward together, while the two sides are scheduled to hold a new session of the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Senegal later this year.
Wang proposed a seven-point plan to develop China-Africa cooperation, which is: strengthening health cooperation, working with Africa to completely defeat the disease and jointly building a “healthy Africa”, strengthening cooperation on production capacity and developing China-Africa cooperation in establishing projects to become more agglomerated and wider in scope. More industrialized and more oriented to meet local requirements, jointly build “Made in Africa” slogan, enhance local connectivity and explore prospects for China-Africa cooperation in the field of free trade.
He added that the plan also includes strengthening agricultural cooperation, establishing cooperation in grain production, storage and transportation, helping Africa support its food security and securing its capabilities in order to participate in building a “Africa with abundant crops”, enhancing digital cooperation and giving full play to Chinese technological advantages and participating in building a “digital Africa”. Establishing cooperation in the field of environmental protection, jointly building a “green Africa”, strengthening military security cooperation, supporting political solutions to sensitive issues in Africa, assisting the African continent in strengthening its own capabilities for peacekeeping and combating terrorism, and jointly building a “safe Africa.”
