The Chinese economy recorded growth of 3.9% year-on-year in the third quarter, despite the slowdown caused by health restrictions, according to official data published on Monday.
The growth figure, released six days late, exceeded the forecasts of a group of 12 experts consulted by AFP, who expected an average expansion of 2.5% in the period from July to September.
China postponed the release of third-quarter GDP growth figures, along with other economic indicators, without specifying the reason or the new release schedule.
China was expected to report some of its lowest quarterly growth figures since 2020 as its economy has been hit by Covid-19 restrictions and a crisis in its real estate sector.
