Christmas tragedy as a two-year-old boy is thrown from a quad bike and killed when it crashed on a rural property
A two-year-old boy has died after he was thrown from a quad bike in a Christmas Day tragedy in Victoria’s north-east.
Police said the little boy was a passenger on the bike was being ridden on a private property in Barnawartha North near Albury Wodonga on the Victoria/New South Wales border when it crashed shortly before midday on Friday.
The boy was trapped underneath the vehicle before witnesses freed him and performed CPR.
Sadly, the boy was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
The quad bike driver is assisting police with their inquiries.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on their way to the scene 300 kilometres north-east of Melbourne.
It come after a horror 24 hours on Victoria’s roads after three people died in seperate crashes on Christmas Eve.
Victoria’s death toll on the roads in 2020 currently stands at 211.
