Civilians head 90% of NATO armies and 40% of UN Security Council members.

Of the 30 countries that make up the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), considered the largest military alliance in the world, only the United States, the United Kingdom and Turkey have a soldier at the head of their armies and the first two are in retirement .

In addition, nine are women (representing 30%) and they are the ones who lead the armies of Germany, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, of the 15 nations that make up the Security Council of the United Nations Organization (UN), six are headed by a military man.

The Security Council has five permanent members who are China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the United States and 10 non-permanent members who are Albania, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, Gabon, Ghana, India, Ireland, Kenya. , Mexico and Norway.

Of the five permanent members China, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, their armies are led by soldiers and of the remaining 10, which are not permanent, only two, Mexico and Brazil, have a military secretary.

On the other hand, of the 20 countries that make up Latin America, eight are led by civilians, two do not have an army and 10 are commanded by the military and they are Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
