clear reported that it reached 120 educational institutions with its initiative “Connected Schools“, which adds up to 204,000 students from 60 municipalities benefiting from free internet.

The initiative, according to the telecommunications operator, is part of Sure for Colombia, its sustainability strategy. The goal is to reach 200 institutions and 300,000 students with technology and education by 2023.

“Connected Schools, was born in the framework of the pandemic with the aim of being able to contribute to the process of returning to classes and encourage the use of technology as a training tool. And it is that we identified that, in some of the institutions, although they had computer rooms equipped with equipment, there was no Internet access, which is why we began to arrive with connectivity and spaces for digital literacy”, said Carlos Zenteno, president of clear.

The beneficiary institutions are today in the departments of Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Tolima, Huila, Cauca, Nariño, Putumayo, Caquetá, Guaviare, Meta, Boyacá, Casanare, Santander, Norte de Santander, Bolívar , Magdalena, Cesar, La Guajira, Sucre, Atlántico and Córdoba.

The beneficiary 120 of the program was the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán institution, in the municipality of Puerto Gaitán, Meta. The initiative also includes training processes for schools, volunteering to generate ownership and digital literacy, and strengthening skills in mathematics, science, language and ICT.
