Clean energy projects in Puebla will be resumed by 2023

Puebla, Pue. At least 10 projects to generate clean energy for the state they will be developed from 2023, which will benefit the industry by lowering the costs of electricity supply and that they are reflected in better productivity, informed Victor Trejo Jimenezpresident of the Energy Committee of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra).

He considered that investments should be made in the medium term so that Puebla companies have supply alternatives to function without a strong economic impact.

He said that in 2020, at least five of the 10 companies had a firm interest in investing in solar or wind farm projects in Puebla, but the plans were also stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this sense, he said that of the total five are from spain, Italia y USAwhile the rest are national companies, which can benefit the green sector of Pueba to increase supply and service contracts.

He stated that the weather conditions of the poblano territory are factors so that this type of projects is developed; In addition, large companies that consume more than one megawatt are required since 2018 and based on the Clean Energy Certificate (CEL) to have 5% of its supply come from renewable sources.

Trejo Jiménez commented that in the face of complaints about charges above 50% in the electricity service, this by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), industries in general seek to lower that expense by installing solar panels, which opens a door for small and medium-sized companies that sell this type of equipment, he explained.

“We know that at the national level the rate at which energy permits were being created by the CRE practically stopped and if the so-called counter-reform had been approved in the federal Congress, it would have had a negative impact on investments by completely changing the financial model. of these projects,” he said.

Energy consumption in Puebla

He argued that Puebla is one of the main energy consuming states, since companies from the automotive, auto parts, textile, chemical, metalworking and steel industries are based here.

He stressed that the industries have understood that they must invest in their facilities to reduce expenses by up to 60%, since some pay 200,000 and others more than 1 million pesos per month for electricity, the latter in terms of profitability does not benefit, but that federal authorities do not see it either promote green energy.

“Before, industries refused to take that step of having solar panels because the return on investment was 13 or 14 years, but now they understand that it is a primary need in their production processes, which should be considered and not go back to promote renewable energies, since the businessman represents a return on his spending in four years”, he added.

He recognized that the interest of the Puebla sector was beginning to be seen in taking advantage of solar radiation or looking for another source of energy to work, just as they were doing in the north of the country to attract more investment, which he hoped would be resumed gradually.
