CNDH asks the authorities to protect minors from violence through video games

The National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) urged federal and state authorities to adopt “immediately” accompaniment actions for children and adolescents, who have been victims of violations of their rights through video games onlineas well as to safeguard them, through information campaigns, about the dangers of these and of cybersecurity.

Through a statement, the CNDH reported that he was aware of different cases of disappearances related to the use of a videogame in particular, called Free Firethrough which minors, especially girls and adolescents between 13 and 17 years old, have been hooked by criminals to leave their homes and become victims of disappearance and sexual abuse.

“Through the Program for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, it is our obligation to ensure the best interests of minors, as well as their access to a dignified life, their safety and justice. Therefore, this Autonomous Organization requests, within the scope of its respective powers and in accordance with the provisions of articles 1 and 4 of the Constitution and 114, 115 and 116 of the General Law on the Rights of Children and Adolescents, that urgently, linked and in their capacity as guarantors, the authorities implement the necessary actions to ensure the safety and physical and psychological integrity of these populations and develop the comprehensive plan for their care and protection, “said the CNDH.

In the document, the National Commission for Human Rights requested the authorities to carry out a public policy, programs and actions aimed at children and adolescents, who are victims of forced disappearance and other crimes, through the use of online video games, to provide timely and effective intervention to guarantee access to the procurement and administration of justice, protecting their identity, in addition to preventing possible violations of their human rights, especially the right to live in a family, the right to life, survival and development, from the State.

The CNDH He concluded that he will carefully observe the progress of the actions, likewise, he endorses his firm commitment to the defense and protection of the rights of Mexican children and adolescents.
