CNN reported that outgoing US President Donald Trump left a message for President-elect Joe Biden at the White House, without revealing its contents.
A source also revealed to the network that former first lady Melania Trump had left a “short welcome message” to the next first lady, Jill Biden. However, it is not clear where the message was left or its content.
It is a modern tradition on the day of inauguration for presidents who leave office to write for their successors a letter offering best wishes and advice. This is usually left on the Resolute Desk to read when the new president enters the Oval Office for the first time.
