Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that the Catalan club will not seek to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window because it has many options, especially with the imminent return of the injured Gavi and Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona ended its preparatory tour in the United States early Wednesday morning with a loss to AC Milan on penalties 4-3 after the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
According to Marca, Flick is very satisfied with the performance of the midfielders, especially the duo Marc Casado and Marc Bernal, and the Danish Andreas Christensen had a role for a few minutes in this position.
Press reports confirmed that Barcelona is seeking to sign a new defensive midfielder to replace Oriol Romeu, who is on loan to Girona.
Flick said in statements after the Milan match, “We have many options in the midfield position. Some stars are injured, but they will return, and I think we do not need to reinforce this position.”

“We have young players who have performed exceptionally, there are players who have become much better over the past few days,” he added.
“The US tour is very positive, we have a lot of young players, their potential is huge, some players have improved these days, they are adapting to what we want to see,” he continued.
