Collins Urges Texans to Trust Their Identity in Ravens Showdown

The last time the Houston Texans faced the Baltimore Ravens, the result was a lopsided 31-2 defeat on Christmas Day at NRG Stadium. In that primetime matchup, the Ravens’ dominant ground attack, led by Lamar Jackson, amassed over 250 rushing yards.

Now, as they prepare for their Week 5 contest in Baltimore, the 1-3 Texans are hoping for a different outcome. Coming off a commanding victory over the Tennessee Titans, the team aims to build momentum and correct the errors from last year’s loss before heading into their bye week.

Wide receiver Nico Collins stressed that the key to success will be for Houston to play its own style of football.

“We got killed, on Christmas, on Netflix, home field. That was crazy. Not the way we wanted to turn out,” Collins said of the previous meeting with the Ravens. “But, flipped the page, and got another opportunity this week to go on the road again, in Baltimore, and go out and just be ourselves. Another opportunity to go out and compete against them boys. It’s going to be fun.”

The Texans face a significant historical challenge, as the franchise has never won a road game in Baltimore. Their all-time record there stands at 0-8 in both regular season and playoff contests. Collins acknowledged the Ravens’ consistent success but said the team is embracing the challenge of breaking the streak.

“Respect to Baltimore, man. It’s a great team over there; great franchise,” Collins stated. “The franchise hasn’t had a win at Baltimore in a while, so that’s a challenge to us… to go out there and just have fun, and go get that win that we’ve been inching towards for years.”

The Texans’ task may be influenced by the Ravens’ injury report, which includes several key players such as Lamar Jackson, Ronnie Stanley, Roquan Smith, Marlon Humphrey, and Kyle Hamilton. However, Houston’s focus remains internal, centering on its own execution regardless of who lines up for the opposition.
