Barcelona, Jan 12 (.).- The Socimi Colonial (MC:) and its French subsidiary SFL will convert all the bonds that the group has in circulation, which add up to a total of 4,620 million euros, into green bonds.
In a communication to the CNMV, the Spanish stock market supervisor, Colonial has announced that it has agreed to initiate the procedures to convert its outstanding senior bonds into green.
Colonial has prepared “a green financing reference framework” to align the group’s financing strategy with its sustainability objectives.
The pillars of this reference framework are “energy efficiency and the prevention and reduction of emissions from the group’s assets,” Colonial added in a statement.
Green bonds are those intended to finance green assets, that is, those with a positive impact on the environment, and Colonial’s intention is that any bond it intends to issue in the future be issued under this framework as “green bonds” .
In order to achieve the conversion of its outstanding bonds into green bonds, the company will ask the bondholders -the meetings with them will be held on February 3- to approve the modification of the use of the proceeds of said bonds from general corporate purposes to financing or refinancing of a portfolio of green assets.
