Monterrey, NL. The Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo León (Caintra) announced that this year they worked on a strategy focused on the SMEs to incorporate them into the industrial value chain.
In this regard, the Vice President of Caintra Nuevo LeonLeopoldo Cedillo, explained that this work was carried out because SMEs have the opportunity to become suppliers of large companies in the current context of disruption of value chains, and the complicated international, economic and political environment.
“All companies started as SMEs, and at one time, someone gave them the confidence to buy them and develop. That sense of responsibility (with SMEs) is linked to business development. It is not an expense, it is not charity, it is a matter of long-term sustainability for the leading companies,” he mentioned.
On behalf of the Caintra SME CommissionIrma León, thanked the large leading companies for their commitment and for constantly challenging this sector to be more competitive.
This year, Caintra’s business relationship reached a record in the generation of sales or service opportunities, with more than 1,500 business appointments, more than 500 requirements shared with SMEs, more than 23 linking spaces and more than 10,200 business interactions for this sector.
On the other hand, Cedillo announced that Caintra granted recognition to companies that have demonstrated their commitment to the industrial sector.
Among the companies that received recognition were Mattel, who was the company with the largest number of participating suppliers, with 290; British American Tobacco, with 64 business appointments during the Expo Pyme 2022; as well as Clarios, who received the recognition of “Linkage of the Year” for their constant participation in each of the business linkage dynamics.
State boost
The state authorities received 27 import substitution proposals for an amount of 86.62 million pesos, where 35 leading companies supported 150 MSMEs to develop supply projects of this type. Of these projects, six were chosen for an amount of 23.28 million pesos.
This as part of a call addressed to clusters, chambers and business associations, which present projects that could contribute to increasing the integration of MSMEs into production chains through import substitution.
The proposals were presented through nine clusters and two business chambers, the Tooling, Biotechnology and Automotive Cluster stand out, which between the three presented 19 of the 27 proposals.
The projects were evaluated by a group of experts from the main educational institutions, such as the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Tec de Monterrey, University of Monterrey, Universidad Regiomontana and Universidad Libre de Derecho.
