The firing of Gersson Rosas by the Minnesota Timberwolves caught everyone by surprise yesterday. Not only is it news that came completely out of the blue, without previous rumors about it, but it occurred at a time that does not seem the most logical given the proximity of the start of the season, which has led everyone to do the same question: why?
Well, with the passing of the hours the situation has been clarifying, at least a little. According to Jon Krawczynski and Shams Charania, journalists from The AthleticSeveral members of the team’s staff showed some disagreement to management regarding the way Rosas exercised his leadership. Apparently, they defined him as dysfunctional, and pointed out that they could work long hours without him having little weight in any decision.
On the other hand, both journalists also claim that other members of the franchise disagreed with several of his main decisions, especially the little protection he had given to the first round sent to the Warriors in the D’Angelo Russell trade. However, Charania and Krawczynski point out that one of their sources in the Timberwolves has assured that “the dismissal is due to the performance of the team,” although, if it were due to that, it would seem more logical that the decision had been made earlier.
