Conspirators start their way in the LMB

Querétaro will host the new Mexican baseball team, Los Conspiradores, whose arrival contemplates the construction of a new stadium for this sport; in the project, in general, between 400 and 500 million pesos of private capital will be invested.

This is the 19th team of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), in its intention to soon reach 20 groups, announced the president of the league, Horacio de la Vega. The director of the Institute of Sport and Recreation of the state of Querétaro, (Indereq), Edward Sánchez del Río, highlighted that the presentation of the new team marks a historic moment in the sporting life of the entity, seeking that the state be a benchmark in this industry.

“We are going to generate a success story for baseball and we are going to be a benchmark in this discipline. Querétaro will be the spearhead. (…) It is a historic day, we are creating a new era in Queretaro sports, ”he stressed.

During the presentation of the Conspirators, the state manager spoke that private initiative is a strategic ally for the local government, in terms of both sports and economic development.

“Baseball, the king of sports, is a joint game of strategy and teamwork, its matches trigger family life and healthy recreation. We reiterate the support of Governor Mauricio Kuri González. The governor has pointed out that the company and the private sector is a strategic ally for employment, for the economy. (…) We wish them success because I know that it is a project with a very broad vision and that it will be a benchmark for baseball in Querétaro”, he added.

Stadium ready in 2024

The executive project of the new stadium is under development, anticipating that the first stone will be laid in January 2023 and it will be ready by March 2024, once the team’s activity in the LMB begins, explained the owner of the franchise, Francisco Orozco. .

Four months ago the development of the executive project began. The owner explained that there are advanced negotiations for it to be located in El Marqués, estimating that in January they will lay the first stone.

The house of the Conspirators is expected to be located between five and ten minutes from the Querétaro International Airport (AIQ).

The new venue will have an estimated area of ​​22,370 square meters, with capacity for 6,000 seats, as well as about 144 private boxes with purchase option.

Although he said that the final costs of the project have not yet been determined, it is estimated that the global investment, both in the construction of the stadium and in the franchise, is between 400 and 500 million pesos.

The general director of the team, Gerardo Quezada, highlighted the birth of the new LMB franchise, which has emerged with the aim of being a competitive group.

“It is a historic day, a franchise is born in the Mexican Baseball League. Baseball is a family sport. We will lead Querétaro to triumphs and victories in the future”, he declared.

The first process to assemble the team will be through professional players, it is estimated that between 60 and 70% of the members come from the 18 current LMB teams, the rest will come from other channels, managing with free agents.

The Querétaro Conspirators arrive in the state with the endorsement of the 18 franchises that currently make up the Mexican Baseball League. Soon they will announce the franchise number 20.

In this context, the president of the LMB highlighted the growth that this industry has had in recent years, since only from 2019 to 2022 the league’s income grew by almost a thousand percent; He highlighted that this growth comes after rethinking the business model, after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is a historic day, very important for baseball in our country. Baseball has grown significantly. (…) We have had an important streak of growth”, he pointed out.

While in 2021 there were more than 1.8 spectators in the stadiums, this year there are 4.3 million spectators. In addition, he added that it has more than 24 television contracts, with distribution in more than 20 countries, reaching more than 60 million viewers in the summer season.

Horacio de la Vega stated that the league is committed to the development of great academies, so they aspire to promote the development of Mexican players. With the arrival of the new team in Querétaro, the league will have a presence in nine of the 10 most important cities in the country.
