Consultations on energy matters continue: Ambassador Ken Salazar

The United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazarconfirmed that the consultation process on energy matters within the framework of the T-MEC keep going.

“We are focused on that, there is a lot of dialogue (…) The T-MEC is a legal framework between the three countries and in the process it has to be followed up so that it reaches the conclusion,” he declared at a press conference to address the results of High Level Dialogue on Security between Mexico and the United States held last week in Washington.

Regarding the output of Tatiana Clouthier of the Ministry of Economy, Salazar ruled out that this generates changes in the agreements reached.

“We are going to continue working very well with the Mexican government on all economic issues, on the consultation and the effect of the change of people is a process that is going to continue, we still do not know where it is going to arrive but that is not going to work for us. to deviate from the framework of this economic union”, he said.

The diplomat assured that in terms of security, work will continue, respecting the sovereignty of Mexico.

It works with municipal and state governments, as well as with the federal one. “There are no problems; we are going to continue working with the government and the states. Not working independently with the states but with the federal government.”

We also work with the states but we do it in the open, we have no secrets. The federal government knows and we inform them of everything we are doing in all states such as Zacatecas or Tabasco”, he asserted.

Trilateral summit of heads of state

Without confirming the date of the next Summit of North American Leaders, which will take place in Mexico in December, the ambassador recalled that much has been done in the relationship and that there will be much to celebrate “in the strong relationship that exists between Mexico, the United States and Canada.
