Control: Ultimate Edition is out on Nintendo Switch today as a cloud version of the game.
IGN’s Game of the Year for 2019 got a quick gameplay trailer in today’s Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase. It looks better than you’d expect from Switch hardware, but that’s because it will require a persistent internet connection to run.
The eShop listing for the game leads you to a free launcher program, which offers the ability to try a 10-minute demo version of the game, which is available either with “enhanced performance” or “enhanced graphics”. You have to play 5 minutes of that demo in order buy an access pass for the full game.
We’ve seen cloud games of performance-intensive games on Switch before, most notably with Japanese releases for Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It seems it’s a trend that may be coming west, as Hitman 3 also got a cloud version announcement today.
This was far from the only announcement in today’s not-so-Mini Direct, and we’ve got everything announced in one handy place.
