The Ministry stated, in a daily statistics, that the number of registered infections with Coronavirus “Covid-19” in the country during the past 24 hours increased by 89,992, bringing the total number to 12220011.
In recent weeks, Brazil has witnessed sharp and unprecedented increases in new infections with the Coronavirus, and this indicator reached on March 19, 90,570 cases, which represents a record outcome, and on March 20, 79,069, on March 21, 47774, on March 22, 49293, and on March 23, 82493.
The ministry stated that it had detected 2009 new deaths due to the disease, bringing the death toll from the pandemic in the country to the level of 300,685 people, raising the lethality rate to 2.5%.
The country recently recorded record increases for the new death index, as it reached 2815 on March 19, on March 20 2438, on March 21, 1290, on March 22, 1383, and on March 23, 3251, which represents the highest toll.
Brazil recorded the second largest death toll from the virus in the world after the United States, and the third highest number of infections after the United States and India.
However, the health authorities confirmed that the official statistics may differ significantly from the real numbers, because the tests did not include all the injured.
On Tuesday, the Director of the World Health Organization in the Americas, Carissa Etienne, warned of the increasing rates of the Corona virus in Brazil “dangerously”, and urged all Brazilians to adhere to preventive measures to stop its spread.
