In a statement published early today, Wednesday, the World Health Organization said that infections recorded in the second week of March increased by 8% compared to the first week of the month, noting that more than 11 million cases and 43,000 deaths from the virus had been recorded during the period from 7 to the 13th of this month.
She added that cases rose especially in the Western Pacific and Africa compared to the previous week, with an increase of 29% and 12%, respectively, and reported that the weekly increase in Europe was 2%.
She added that the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, North America and South America witnessed a decrease in the number of registered cases during the same period.
According to the latest data published by the “Worldmeter” website, today, Corona virus infections around the world exceeded 462 million, and the deaths reached 6 million and 73 thousand, while the number of people recovered exceeded 395 million and 180 thousand.
During the past 24 hours, Germany recorded a record weekly infection rate with the Corona virus in Germany, according to new data published today by the German “Robert Koch” Institute for Infectious Diseases Control.
