Tommy Robinson appears to have been arrested on suspicion of breaching coronavirus regulations at a protest in London.

Footage shows the English Defence League founder, 37, being detailed by police following an event in Hyde Park today.

The far-right activist can be heard telling officers: ‘You’re breaking my f***ing arm,’ as he is handcuffed.

He can be heard protesting his innocence saying: ‘I haven’t done anything.’

He continued telling officers that they have ‘nothing on’ him and that he ‘wasn’t resisting’ arrest.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘Officers were policing an assembly at speakers corner, Hyde Park on Sunday, 1 November.

‘At 14:44hrs a man aged in his 30’s was arrested under the coronavirus regulations for holding or being involved in the holding of the event.

Supporters suggested the initial gathering was about showing support for another activist, Hatun Tash.

She claims to have been attacked at Speaker’s Corner after showing an image of the prophet Muhammad, an act considered deeply offensive to Muslims.

Current tier 2 Covid-19 rules in London are in place, meaning that no more than six people can socialise outside, including in public parks.
