BREAKING NEWS: Coronavirus outbreak that’s sparked panic across Sydney spreads to the NSW central coast
A NSW Central Coast resident has tested positive to coronavirus after visiting Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where there is a cluster of 28 cases.
The newly infected person visited Palm Beach in Sydney’s north before catching a ferry back to Wagstaffe on the Central Coast on Wednesday night.
They tested positive to COVID-19 with Central Coast Health confirming the new case on Friday night.
‘The case has been linked to the cluster in the Northern Beaches,’ the health body announced.
‘We are providing care and support to a Central Coast resident who has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
‘They are currently in self-isolation at home, with health staff undertaking daily wellness checks.’
One close contact, who lives in the same house, has also been tested and is currently self isolating as they wait for results.
The infected person caught a ferry from Palm Beach to Wagstaffe on the Central Coast at 6:15pm on Wednesday.
All those who were on board the ferry are considered casual contacts and are urged to get tested immediately if symptoms appear, however mild.
The ferry journey is the only location identified for casual contacts. There are no other exposure sites identified on the Central Coast.
